GPAJ Appoints Tadamichi Yamamoto as Chair and Motoko Mizuno and Ken Inoue as Vice Chairs(2026/03/25)

The Global Peacebuilding Association of Japan (GPAJ) decided on its new leadership structure at its FY2025 Annual General Meeting held on March 25, 2026, and at the board meeting held afterward. Mr. Tadamichi Yamamoto was appointed Chair, while Ms. Motoko Mizuno and Mr. Ken Inoue were appointed Vice Chairs.

At the General Meeting, members deliberated on and approved a number of agenda items, including the FY2025 financial report and audit report, the establishment of the new position of President, the creation of an International Advisory Council, amendments to the Articles of Incorporation, revisions to membership fees, and the election of directors and auditors. In addition, it was approved that Mr. Sukehiro Hasegawa would step down as Chair and assume the newly established position of President, thereby creating a new framework aimed at strengthening the continuity and governance of the association.

Following the conclusion of the General Meeting, the board of directors selected Mr. Yamamoto as Chair, and Mr. Inoue and Ms. Mizuno as Vice Chairs. It was also decided that Mr. Masakuni Tanimoto would continue to serve as Secretary-General.

With the launch of this new leadership structure, GPAJ is expected to further strengthen its activities under a more stable and forward-looking governance framework in addressing peacebuilding challenges both in Japan and internationally. In parallel with the establishment of the new position of President, the association has also begun developing mechanisms to incorporate international expertise more effectively, and its future activities will be closely watched.
