The Kathryn Davis Peace Fellowship is awarded to a total of 12 outstanding individuals worldwide, one recipient for each language, including Chinese, French, Arabic, and more. Elizabeth Gamarra was honored as the sole recipient for the Japanese Language, recognizing her dedication to peacebuilding and language diplomacy.
The award reflects the enduring legacy of Kathryn W. Davis, a peace philanthropist who has called the peace fellows “the real movers and shakers” for lasting global peace.
Fluent in Spanish, English, Quechua, and now Japanese, Elizabeth brings a unique multilingual perspective to her work. She plans to leverage her language skills to deepen U.S.-Japan relations and actively engage in multilateral cooperation throughout the region. Currently, she serves as the Youth Ambassador for the U.S. Pavilion at the World Expo. She is also the incoming U.S representative for the Youth Trilateral Forum and the Co-chair for Peace and Security Track in next year’s Y20 Summit.
