The Shimane Study Tour, organized and guided by Director Sakane of the Global Peacebuilding Association of Japan (GPAJ), was held on March 7–8, 2026. Participants had a valuable opportunity to experience the history, culture, academia, and art of Shimane through visits to Izumo Grand Shrine, Hinomisaki Lighthouse, Shimane University, the Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum, Matsue Castle, and the Adachi Museum of Art.
On the first day, March 7, the group visited Izumo Grand Shrine and Hinomisaki Lighthouse, both of which are among Shimane’s most notable historical and cultural landmarks. On March 8, participants toured Shimane University, the Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum, Matsue Castle, and the Adachi Museum of Art, deepening their understanding of the region’s intellectual and cultural heritage.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the highly meaningful and enriching experience, and conveyed their sincere gratitude to Director Sakane for his thoughtful planning and guidance throughout the tour. (Reported by Koki IMON)
