\u3000On 19 March 2015, Ambassador Lakhdar Brahimi delivered a keynote speech to start an exchange of views by practitioners and scholars of UN peace operations held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. The informal consultation meeting was convened by Stephen Browne and Thomas Weiss, co-directors of the Future United Nations Development System<\/a><\/strong><\/u> (FUNDS) and sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation<\/a><\/strong><\/u>.<\/p>\n

\u3000The meeting was opened by Mr. Michael M\u00f8ller of Denmark, Acting Director General of the United Nations Office at Geneva. It was attended by about 45 participants including current and former special representatives and heads of UN peace missions as well as ambassadors, university professors and researchers.<\/p>\n\n

\u3000Dr. Achim Wennmann<\/strong>, Executive Coordinator of the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, chaired the second session and a round table discussion on the past and ongoing problems in peacekeeping and peacebuilding operation. He provided the participants with copies of the White Paper on Peacebuilding.
